La Academia de Ciencias y Artes Cinematográficas de Hollywood anunció el jueves 22 de enero los nominados a la edición 98 de los Premios Oscar, que se entregarán el 15 de marzo en el Dolby Theatre de Hollywood y que tendrán como anfitrión Conan O’Brien.
El anuncio de nos nominados en las 24 categorías para los Oscar fue conducida por los actores Danielle Brooks y Lewis Pullman en el Samuel Goldwyn Theater, en Los Ángeles, California.
La película Sinners, de Ryan Coogler, se coronó como el fiilme más nominado, aspirando a un récord de 16 candidaturas.
La película de vampiros superó las 14 que ostentaban hasta ahora tres clásicos del cine: All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997) y La La Land (2016).
La película protagonizada por Michael B. Jordan y escrita y dirigida por Coogler (Black Panther) se ambienta en el Misisipi de 1930, y sigue a los hermanos gemelos Smoke y Stack, ambos interpretados por Jordan, que regresan a su ciudad natal para empezar de cero, solo para descubrir que un mal ancestral les aguarda.
Sinners ha sido celebrada por su mirada crítica a la música como un espacio de creación y resistencia, pero también de explotación y apropiación cultural, cuestionando quién se beneficia de los géneros musicales nacidos en comunidades marginadas.
Por debajo de Sinners se encuentra One Battle after Another, de Paul Thomas Anderson, con 13 nominaciones, seguido de Marty Supreme, Frankenstein y Sentimental Value, que acumularon un total de 9 candidaturas cada una.
Otras nominaciones a los Premios Oscar
El puertorriqueño Benicio del Toro recibió una nominación al Oscar a Mejor Actor de Reparto por su interpretación en la comedia negra One Battle After Another (Una batalla tras otra), del cineasta estadounidense Paul Thomas Anderson, por la que también será candidato Sean Penn, además de Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), Deloy Lindo(Sinners) y Stellan Skarsgard (Sentimental Value)
Emma Stone (Bugonia), Jessie Buckley (Hamnet), Rose Byrne (If I had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Sung Sung Blue) y Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value) fueron nominadas en la categoría de Mejor Actriz.
El brasileño Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent) competirá por el Oscar a Mejor Actor junto a Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon) y Michael B. Jordan (Sinners).
Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another), Chloé Zhao (Hamnet) y Ryan Coogler (Sinners) competirán por el Oscar a Mejor Dirección junto a Josh Safdie (Marty Supreme) y Joaquim Tier (Sentimental Value).
